  8.     This tiny boat carved 
  9. from an olive stone is 
  10. fully equipped with a 
  11. covered deck and moveable 
  12. windows carved in open-
  13. work. The interior has 
  14. chairs, dishes on a table 
  15. and  eight  figures 
  16. representing the characters 
  17. from Su Tung-po's "Ode on 
  18. the  Red  Cliff." On  the 
  19. underside, in minute characters,
  20. is carved the entire ode, 
  21. together with the date
  22. (A.D. 1737) and the artist's 
  23. name.
